Richie Moloney and Carrabis Z Win Hampton Classic Grand Prix and September HORSE GYM USA® Horse of the Month Award!

Riverhead, NY – Ireland’s Grand Prix show jumper Richie Moloney has captured some of the most prestigious titles in American competition, most notably aboard the Zangersheide gelding owned by Equinimity, LLC, Carrabis Z. Recently the pair dashed across the grass to claim the top prize in the $300,000 Hampton Classic Horse Show Grand Prix presented by Longines in Bridgehampton, New York. This adds to a lengthy resume of accomplishments for Moloney and Carrabis Z, which includes representing their country in Nations Cup competitions and winning the American Gold Cup at Old Salem Farm in 2015. Equine fitness and conditioning company HORSE GYM USA®, of which Moloney is a customer, took special notice of the pair’s latest success and chose to honor Carrabis Z with the HORSE GYM USA® Horse of the Month Award for September.

When describing his talented mount, Moloney explained, “He is a very careful and blood horse so he normally has plenty of energy left for the second round. Most of the time he improves in the second round. The more relaxed he gets, the better he is!”

As a longtime user of HORSE GYM USA® fitness equipment, Moloney makes sure that each of the horses in his program use the HORSE GYM USA® treadmill on a daily basis. Carrabis Z, or “Cary” as he is known in the barn, is no exception. Moloney makes sure that the striking dark bay gelding has daily morning sessions on the HORSE GYM USA® WALK treadmill before tacking up to ride. “I find the treadmill very good in building up horses’ fitness in general and leading up to shows,” Moloney stated.

The WALK helps horses increase their fitness without the weight of a rider, making it the perfect tool to supplement daily training. By allowing horses to walk freely and in a straight line, the WALK encourages horses to develop a stronger topline and stronger core muscles. The WALK also features incline settings, so the machine can be adjusted as necessary while working on building the horse’s topline and the sometimes hard to reach hind-end muscles.

Moloney is based in Riverhead, New York, with additional facilities in Wellington, Florida and Tryon, North Carolina. The HORSE GYM USA® WALK has been in his New York facility for over six years, and Moloney recently outfitted his North Carolina property with the treadmill, as well. Next, Moloney is planning to get the HORSE GYM USA® SPA— a therapeutic aqua trainer— and the solarium addition called the SUN for his North Carolina and Florida properties.

HORSE GYM USA® is delighted to be a part of Moloney and Carrabis Z’s success, as the company’s products are widely recognized as an ideal way to help horses perform at their best. The company’s leading fitness products help all disciplines of riders meet their equine conditioning goals, and can be key in rehabilitating horses after injury. The Horse of the Month Award was created as a way to recognize impressive conditioning programs and physiques of equestrian athletes that utilize the beneficial HORSE GYM USA® tools.

To be entered to win the HORSE GYM USA® Horse of the Month Award, send a before and after photo of your horse to Jill@horsegym.com. You can also follow HORSE GYM USA® on Instagram.

Edorado Steps Up His Game with the Help of HORSE GYM USA®

July 29, 2016 by Austen Stone

Bantam, CT (July 28, 2016) — When Stone Horse Farm in Bantam, Connecticut purchased the KWPN gelding Edorado (Indoctro x Ahorn) from the famous Stal Hendrix stables in Holland in 2015, Edorado was paired with veteran show jumper James Fairclough with great expectations for success. The gelding immediately went to work, showing his talents in the Young Jumper classes on the east coast show circuit. However, Fairclough quickly found that Edorado needed a bit more horsepower in his jumps to reveal his full potential. “Edorado has always been a careful horse at the front rail, but he needed a little help conditioning his hind end during the early part of his six-year-old year,” said Fairclough. Luckily, Fairclough and Stone Horse Farm found an easy solution to developing a powerful hind end, and the now seven-year-old horse is jumping up the levels in competition.
